Wayfarer

Where have I been since April of 2022? What have I been doing? I had to look back on my calendar to see if something momentous happened that kept me from writing. No, I think I was just wandering through life like a wayfarer.

I see on my calendar lots of physical therapy appointments, many art classes, theater dates with lady friends and lunch or dinner dates with family and friends. I think that “when the giant roach ” attacked me and I fell I really hurt my spine and over time my back and leg pain became worse. I tried PT for several weeks and saw some improvement but still felt very limited in my movement and my desire/ ability to be out and about.

My doctor (about whom I may write later) referred me to a pain management specialist and I love him. Xrays and MRIs showed that I have spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal column opening). This causes pinched nerves and pain. His recommendation was injections of long lasting steroids to relieve the pain and inflammation. Lucky for me it worked and the pain in my leg is 95% better.

In June of 2022 I went to visit Laura in Montana along with Renee, Tom and Jim. We stayed in a rental house near Laura and went with her to the Wings Equine Rescue almost every day. We got to work with her in setting up and staffing the 50 Mile Yard Sale at the ranch. Hard work but good proceeds for the Wings budget. Most of all we enjoyed sitting by the firepit or on the deck together and enjoying the beauty of the Montana mountains. I cherished the time spent with my three kids!

In June of 2023 I hosted a graduation party for Great Grandson Evan at a rental house in Temecula. Most of the family attended the festivities. In August of 2023 we – Renee, Tom and I – were back in Montana for the Celtic Games where the Wings rescue had a booth and the mini- horses were there. I’ll write about both of these events in my next blog of wayfaring memories.
